Our technicians are trained to identify and control all the regional troublemakers. Here are just a few of the pests we handle:

Ladybugs/Asian Lady Beetles

Ladybugs, or Asian lady beetles are an invasive species that invade homes in large numbers during the fall and seek shelter from the cold. Asian lady beetles can bite, stain, and emit a foul odor when crushed. They are most commonly found around windows.

Stink Bugs

Stink bugs are common seasonal pests in Tennessee, they often show up around homes in the fall. They’re shield-shaped insects that enter houses seeking warmth, and they release an unpleasant odor when disturbed. They usually gather around walls, windows, and inside living spaces.

Fleas

Fleas are small, fast-moving parasites that feed on the blood of animals and people. They are most commonly brought into homes by dogs, cats, or wildlife. Once inside, they can multiply quickly. They usually lay eggs in furniture, bedding, floors, and carpet, which can lead to infestation. Eggs can hatch every ten days.

Spiders

Spiders are eight-legged pests that are often found in corners, basements, garages, and around windows. They usually enter homes looking for other insects, and can be problematic year-round. There are two well-known poisonous species of spiders in Tennessee, known as the Brown Recluse and the Black Widow.

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are small, flat, reddish-brown insects that are about the size of an apple seed, they feed on the blood of people and animals. They hide in mattresses, walls, light sockets, electrical outlets, box springs, bed frames, and furniture during the day and they usually emerge at night. Bed bugs do not jump or fly, but they spread very quickly. They can easily attach to clothes and belongings and hide in narrow crevices.

Ticks

Ticks are small, oval-shaped parasites that feed on the blood of people and animals. Ticks are usually brought inside by pets and humans. Indoors, they are usually found on pets, clothing, or skin. Ticks can spread diseases to both pets and humans, so prompt removal is important.

Roaches

Roaches are fast-moving, flat-bodied insects that hide in dark, warm, and moist areas of the home such as kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. Roaches are year-round pests that multiply quickly and can contaminate food surfaces. Certain roaches like wood roaches live outside in leaves and decaying logs and wander in or are carried in on firewood. Other roaches like the german roach can carry disease-causing pathogens and trigger allergies.

Ants

Ants come in all shapes and sizes. They can live indoors and outdoors. Ants can be black, brown, or reddish in color. Ant infestations can infest your food or cause expensive structural damage.

Carpenter Bees/Boring Bees

Carpenter bees are large, black and yellow bees that look similar to bumblebees. They are often seen hovering around porches, decks, and wooden structures in the spring. Unlike termites, carpenter bees don’t eat wood, but they drill round holes to create nests for their larva. This can cause structura damage over time if left untreated. Male carpenter bees cannot sting, but females sting only if handled. Activity is mostly seasonal, peaking in spring and early summer.

Hornets

Hornets are large, aggressive stinging insects that build paper-like nests in trees, shrubs, rooflines, and sometimes wall voids. They have a smooth body with yellow, white, or black marking depending on the species. Hornets are most active in late spring through early fall.

Yellow Jackets

Yellow jackets are small, aggressive wasps with bright yellow and black markings. They build paper-like nests in the ground, wall voids, sheds, or under decks. They often fly low to the ground or swarm near-by food or trash. Yellow Jackets are most active late spring through fall, and their colonies become especially defensive by late summer. Their stings are painful, and they can sting multiple times.

Rats

Rats are a big health hazard, and they can quickly spread diseases. Rats are much larger than mice. Rats can appear in various colors like brown, black, gray, or even white. Rats enter home in search of food, water, and shelter. Rats can cause significant damage by gnawing on wires, insulation, and structural materials. They can cause risks like fire hazards and structural weakening. Rats also contaminate food and surfaces with their droppings.

Mice

Mice can be noisy unwanted house guests. Mice are much smaller than rats. They also can spread diseases. Mice range any color from brown to grey. Mice come into homes searching for food, water, and shelter. Mice chew on wires, home goods, and personal property.

Bird Mites

Bird mites are very small pests that look like a speck of pepper, they come from birds nesting on or near a home. The mites may leave the nest to look for a new host indoors. They can be seen crawling on walls, ceilings, or around windows. They can cause itching and skin irritation. They are very invasive so nest removal is a key strategy to prevent infestation. Once infestation has occurred extensive treatment is required.

Termites

Termites are wood-destroying insects that live in large, hidden colonies and feed on cellulose found in wood. In Tennessee the most common type is the Eastern Subterranean Termite, which enters homes from the soil through mud tubes. Termites are active year-round. They work silently and can cause significant structural damage, so professional inspection and treatment are essential.

Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes are small, flying insects known for their itchy bites. They breed in standing water. Anything from puddles and gutters to birdbaths and buckets. In Tennessee, mosquito activity ramps up in late spring, peaks in summer, and can continue in early fall depending on temperatures. Mosquitos can also carry diseases.

Boxelder Beetles

Boxelder beetles are small, black insects with red lines on their wings and body. They gather in large numbers on walls, doors, and windows especially in the fall. They do not bite or damage structures. They are a seasonal nuisance, with activity peaking in the fall and reappearing in the spring when they try to move back outside.

Millipedes

Millipedes are long, cylindrical pests with many tiny legs that curl up when touched. They prefer damp, dark areas outside, but may annoyingly wander inside during periods of heavy rain or when the ground gets too dry. Millipedes do not bite, sting, or damage homes, but they can appear in large numbers. Activity is mostly seasonal, increasing in spring and fall when moisture levels change.
